The Role

A leading Biopharmaceutical Company are looking to recruit a IT Manager to join their Informatics team.

As the IT Manager you’ll be responsible for maintaining, planning and expanding the growing IT system portfolio and actively influencing the development of the company’s future IT strategy. You’ll support and advise teams on providing state-of-the-art, reliable and cost-effective IT solutions to business problems and meet business goals both within the UK and Taiwan offices.

Responsibilities
• Ensure the integrity, control and effective operation of all computer systems, telecoms equipment, related applications, hardware and software that is used within the company
• Manage a team of two in-house IT technicians and our external IT support partner, to deliver an exceptional customer service experience
• Prepare and keep current the 3 year IT, Systems & Telecoms Strategy Plan
• Recommend information technology strategies, policies and procedures by identifying problems, evaluating trends and anticipating requirements
• Manage secure network access for all users
• Implementation and periodic testing of Informatics disaster recovery and backup plan
• Manage the IT budget and support the selection, installation and maintenance of all software and hardware (administrative, laboratory, etc.)
• Oversee the maintenance of an inventory of all software applications (administrative and laboratory) and hardware assets
• Ensure adherence with software licensing agreements and terms and conditions
• Develop, extend and oversee a rapid-response IT helpdesk support facility for all company users to provide the following:
o Efficient and timely setup of new joiner’s IT / telecoms equipment.
o User issue resolution on individual laptop, desktop and mobile devices.
o Resolving laboratory equipment hardware/software issues.
o Provide user training, support, advice and feedback.
• Manage external relationships with third-party providers
• Liaise with external support services and management to schedule downtime, maintenance and upgrades
• Manage IT team meetings and team-wide prioritisation
• Work with in-house staff, consultants and contractors to deliver or extend projects such as knowledge management using Sharepoint, archiving, infrastructure upgrades
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices and participating in professional societies
You

You’ll have substantial, prior professional experience in an IT Management capacity and ideally have a Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related area. Knowledge of software and hardware configuration management processes and best practice is essential as well as being an all-rounder who is at ease “rolling-up” sleeves to get into detail to provide an internal helpdesk function for employees while having a wider vision to develop top-level plans and strategies.

Proven expertise with Windows and Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint and Project) and experience of data compliance requirements and data security ideally in GDPR.

Working within a Similar environment for a Biotechnology company is preferred and knowledge of LIMS such as BioVia ELN, Genedata Biologics and GraphPad Prism.
