The Role

A leading Biotechnology Company are looking to recruit a IT and Systems Manager who can provide proactive leadership of and drive the development of the IT Function.

Responsibilities
• Ensure the integrity, control and effective operation of all computer systems, telecom equipment, related applications, hardware and software that is used within offices and laboratories
• Prepare and keep current IT / Systems / Telecoms Strategy Plans and recommend improvements and developments in IT strategies, policies, and procedures by identifying problems, evaluating trends and anticipating requirements through strategic discussions with R&D, Finance and Business Development
• Manage secure network access for all users, including disaster recovery and back-up plans
• Manage IT budget and support the selection, installation and maintenance of all software and hardware
• Oversee an inventory of all software applications and ensure adherence with software licensing agreements
• Develop, implement, and oversee rapid response IT hosting and helpdesk support for all users
• Manage all external relationships with third-party providers, including the scheduling of downtime, maintenance and upgrades
• Manage IT Steering Committee meetings
• Develop functionality and maintain the upkeep, architecture and structural integrity of the intranet and external website, working with internal groups and external website designers on content and modifications
You

You’ll have substantial, prior professional experience in an IT Management capacity and ideally have a Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related area. Knowledge of software and hardware configuration management processes and best practice is essential as well as being an all-rounder who is at ease “rolling-up” sleeves to get into detail to provide an internal helpdesk function for employees while having a wider vision to develop top-level plans and strategies.

Proven expertise with Windows and Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, Viso and Project) and experience of UNIX, Linux, Oracle and programming (Java, C++)

Working within a Similar environment for a Biotechnology company is preferred and knowledge of LIMS such as Genedata Biologics and GraphPad Prism.
